Abstract
Living in image influx, the body is easily consumed. Media representation results in a flattening, a push towards objecthood. With the use of self-portraiture and a heavy influence from the rich history of feminist art, I work to interrupt this viewing process. Body and medium merge into one leaving behind an impersonal implication of intimacy. Interactions between print and video nod at the sense of mass distribution. I assert my presence through wit and rigorous process. With hints of vulgarity and the grotesque, I create an uncomfortable viewing experience that directs the gaze right back at the viewer.
