Abstract

Studies of cultural ecology, the adaptations of the people of a culture to a given physical and social environment, have usually dealt with a single ethnic group in a single environment. This study is concerned with an unusual situation, two fairly distinct ethnic groups in a region with large areas of distinctly different physical environments.
