Abstract
Hcf2 or heterochromatin factor protein 2 is a heterochromatin associated protein predicted to be involved in chromatin dynamics during conjugation of Tetrahymena thermophila. Hcf2's exclusive expression in macronucleus and its unique punctated localization pattern during early conjugation suggest Hcf's potential contribution to DNA rearrangement in the somatic macronucleus.
