Abstract

An overview of US privacy law, as well as the remedies available to EU citizens who believe their data protection rights have been violated by the United States, with an emphasis on the US legal doctrine of "standing" in privacy cases. Submitted in the case of Data Protection Commissioner v. Facebook (Irish High Court 2017), also known as the "Standard Contractual Clauses Case" or colloquially "Schrems 2."
