Problem Statement
This project aims to develop a simple method for adjusting the preset of a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) while it remains installed in a refrigeration system. By testing TXVs and establishing a correlation between adjustment stem turns and nitrogen opening pressure (psig), a technician can estimate the valve setting without removing it for separate testing. The final deliverable will be a repeatable procedure, calibration chart, or tool that allows for faster and more practical TXV adjustments in the field.
