St. Louis native, former CEO and chairman of Edison Brothers Stores, Inc., and a member of Washington University Libraries' National Council, Julian Edison (1929-2017) began collecting books during his undergraduate years at Harvard, focusing his efforts on the acquisition of miniature books. He was the founder and long-time editor of the publication Miniature Book News.
Over the years, Edison’s miniature book collection grew in size and reputation, earning international renown. He often loaned his miniature books to the Department of Special Collections for use in exhibitions and research, and in 2012, he gave a considerable part of the collection to WU Libraries. This digital collection contains secondary sources collected by Julian Edison on miniature books, including the volume Miniature Books: 4,000 Years of Tiny Treasures (Abrams, 2007) he co-authored with Anne C. Bromer.
