Description

Pierscape at Navy Pier | Chicago, IL | Architectural Code Consultant, 10/2012-12/2014 (est).

The Pierscape project is transforming the public realms of Navy Pier, Chicago's number one tourist destination, by providing more park-type amenities with a heavy emphasis on creating more green space. As part of the James Corner Field Operations team, Primera Engineers, Ltd. is providing architectural code consulting services, life safety analysis, civil engineering, lighting controls design, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering on this high-profile project in Chicago.

The project is being certified under a sustainability rating system titled Sustainable Sites Initiative (SITES), which is similar to the widely-recognized LEED sustainability rating system, but specifically focused on projects that do not involve buildings or interior spaces. The Pierscape project incorporates several sustainable design elements which specifically capitalize on Navy Pier's unique location adjacent to the mouth of the Chicago River at Lake Michigan.
